Now that you’ve registered for Ashfest, here is a bunch of info that will help you plan your experience:
We suggest you arrive May 27 to get settled, unpack your work, etc. Flights into Raleigh/Durham are plentiful, and depending on need, we can arrange a group pickup May 27 using the passenger van if necessary.
Once you figure out how to get here, you need to get your work here. If driving, that’s easy to answer. If flying, you will need to ship your work. You can ship boxes via UPS, FEDEX, or USPS. If you wish to pack work on a palette and ship freight (perhaps you pack your bicycle on the palette as well), we have front loaders on site to get your palette off the freight truck. Casestack is one company who arranges freight shipments, Saia, R&L, and many others can help you ship your palette. Please make sure your work arrives May 22-26. Arrange pickup of your work June 12 from Finch Pottery.
We have several options for you to get some rest;
Drive your camper/RV, there is plenty of space and we have hookups for you. You will still have access to the kitchen in the studio, full laundry facilities, full public restrooms with showers (cleaned daily), and wifi internet access.
In the guest house, you can bring a sleeping bag or air mattress setup in the family room, 3 private rooms (2 still open), and 1 private room with en suite full restroom. Full kitchen, big screen tv, and full laundry in the guest house. En suite room is $20/night, Private rooms are $15/night, sleeping bag/air mattress in the family room is $5/night.
Private apartment over the studio, overlooking the farm, kiln, etc. is already TAKEN.
There are also several small hotels in nearby (15 min drive) Wilson we can recommend if you prefer.
